  • Pastor Bill was born and raised Lutheran in a small town in Western Pennsylvania. After pursuing a career in physics that found him at Texas Christian University and the University of Southern California, he attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1988.


    Pastor Bill went on to serve as Associate Pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Later, he was called to serve in outdoor ministry, running church camps and retreat centers across the southwest. Pastor Bill was on the staff of Lutheran Outdoor and Retreat Ministries of the Southwest as a program director and camp director through LORMS' dissolution in 1998. He then served as Executive Director of Briarwood Lutheran Ministries in Argyle, Texas; Bishop Stoney Camp and Conference Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and All Saints Camp and Conference Center in Pottsboro, Texas.


    He returned to parish ministry in 2008, serving Triumphant Lutheran Church in Garden Ridge, TX, for almost 8 years. In July of 2015, Pastor Bill left Triumphant Lutheran to take the call of Senior Pastor at Resurrection Lutheran.


    Pastor Bill met his wife, Cathie, while a camp director at Briarwood. She served as a youth director here at Resurrection Lutheran and brought her youth group to camp. The rest, as they say, is history! Pastor Bill and Cathie were married in our own church on August 6, 2000. After she left Resurrection in 2001, Cathie served at Living Word Lutheran Church in Grapevine, TX as their Youth Director. She is  retired from Child Protective Services of Texas.


    Pastor Bill and Cathie have six grown children and eight grandkids.


    Pastor Bill's other passions include music (vocal and keyboard), all things electronic, and trains (model and life-size!)

  • Misti Retan was born and raised in Rowlett, Texas. After college she went on to work as the office administrator for an independent property and casualty insurance firm in Dallas for 7 years before joining RLC. Misti handles all communication for Resurrection and prides herself on knowing every member by name. On Sundays you can find Misti in our church nursery with our youngest members, making Sundays her favorite day of the week. 

  • Jim Loeffler is the Director of Worship and Music at Resurrection Lutheran. He joined the staff in 2014. In addition, he accompanies The Texas Voices, is a staff accompanist for the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas, and regularly plays for student musicians throughout the Plano Independent School District. Previously, Jim served King of Glory Lutheran in Dallas, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, Maryland and congregations his home state of Indiana.


    Jim is a singer and a composer. He has sung with the Orpheus Chamber Singers and the Choral Arts Society of Washington where he sang under such notable conductors as Robert Shaw, Christopher Hogwood, Leonard Slatkin, Yuri Termikanov, Eiji Oue, composer John Adams, and vocalist Bobby McFerrin, in venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Royal Albert Hall in London and the Grand Tetons Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Mr. Loeffler has published seven sets of organ variations with Darcey Press in the collection 83 Musical Gifts, and has composed numerous works for organ, choir, brass, handbells, and children's voices, in addition to several commissions.


    Mr. Loeffler earned the Bachelor Music degree in Church Music from Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, IN) and the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Illinois. Mr. Loeffler's musical studies include the following: organ with Pamela Johnson, Douglas Reed, and Martin Jean; harpsichord with William Eifrig and William Heiles; conducting with Fred Stolzfus, Chester Alwes, Dennis Friesen-Carper, and Eldon Balko; and jazz with Billy Foster. His professional affiliations include the American Guild of Organists where he earned the Fellow's Certificate (F.A.G.O.), and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.


    He and his wife Ann have 3 (nearly-grown) children and live in Plano.

  • Betsy Boyd was born and raised in the Episcopal Tradition. After growing up overseas in Ethiopia and Egypt, Betsy attended Anglican services along with multi-denominational services led by Lutheran military chaplains. Upon graduating high school, Betsy found her calling in spiritual leadership and went on to pursue her B.A. in Christian Education and Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Gordon College. Go fighting Scots!


    After graduating from College, Betsy served at Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville Maryland (where she served as Christian Education and Youth Ministries Director as well as day school Chaplain). Following a burgeoning career in chaplaincy and youth ministries, Betsy married her college sweetheart Brian at Christ Church in Rockville. Betsy soon felt the call of the South and moved to the great state of Texas. She continued her love in christian education and worked at the Diocese of Dallas assisting churches in developing Christian Education and Youth Ministries in congregations. Betsy thereon had the distinction of serving under two Presiding Bishops as the Staff Officer for Youth Ministries.

    Remarkably, she was given the opportunity to travel to over one hundred diocese throughout Europe, Central America, and the United States. After the birth of their son Benjamin, Brian and Betsy returned to Texas. Benjamin is now attending J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson where they have resided for the last ten years.


    Apart from her passion in youth ministries and discipleship, Betsy enjoys reading, investing in quality time with friends, and spends her summers in New England. As a family, they consider themselves film connoisseurs and avid travelers. They never shy away from new adventures!   

  • Ann Loeffler is a life-long Lutheran and has been a member of RLC since 2014. She is in her 20th year of teaching Spanish, and currently in her 12th year at Clark High School in Plano, as well as serving there as LOTE Department Co-Chair for several years. Prior to moving to Texas in 2008, she taught at various public and private schools, and has taught grades K-12 throughout her career. While living in Maryland, she was also Director of Youth and Family Ministries at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD for almost 7 years where she was responsible for primarily 6th-12th grade youth, as well as working with the church's pre-school and Confirmation programs. During that time, she also completed her Youth Ministry Certification at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in Pennsylvania.

    Ann is passionate about guiding young people in their learning, whether it be at school or in in their faith life. She led the group that went to the Houston National Youth Gathering this summer and got to know the youth of RLC. She was drawn back to officially working in youth ministry while watching their love God, life and bubbles, not necessarily in that order! She is excited to work with them and their families, and is looking forward to working with them while they explore their faith and what it means in their lives.

    Ann lives in Plano with her husband Jim (see Director of Music and Worship above) and between one and three of their children, depending on whether or not college is in session.
